Elizabeth Sweet is a Chicago-based journalist exploring the intersections of design, sport, and human experience. Her work appears in The Wall Street Journal, Dwell, and Milwaukee Magazine, where she examines how environments, from historic brownstones to basketball courts, shape growth, well-being, and performance.
She holds a B.A. in Journalism from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and an M.A. in Interior Design from the Savannah College of Art and Design. Sweet began her career at Chicago Home & Garden and Better Homes & Gardens, honing her editorial voice across both print and digital platforms. Today, she covers contemporary architecture, interiors, and professional sports, including the rise of women’s basketball, the WNBA, and the NFL, from her Midwest home base.
A committed advocate for girls’ sports, Sweet founded Fill The Stands in spring 2025, a nonprofit dedicated to boosting attendance at girls’ and women’s sporting events and amplifying visibility for female athletes. She also coaches middle school girls basketball and is pursuing a Master of Science in Sports Leadership at UW–Madison.
Her reporting—whether on design or athletics—centers on resilience, identity, and the transformative power of community.
